Born in Mexico City, Rocio Sofia Ordonez grew up loving Mexican traditions, art and crafts. Rocio Sofia is the founder of Craft Makers Studio and Sirena Indigo in the SF Bay Area.
Rocio earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Graphic Design from the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City. Rocio’s creative abilities stem from generations of talented Mexican women, specifically her mother and grandmother.
While in Mexico Rocio worked for the Association Mexican de Arte y Cultura Popular (AMACUP), a nonprofit dedicated to the preservation of ancestral artistic techniques and fair-trade practices. Additionally. She was a co-founder of Silver Chilli a fair-trade silver company based in the United Kingdom.
Rocio relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2002. She continued her mission of sharing art and crafts. Rocio designed and created four large mosaic murals for Alameda County Child Protective Services and implemented art projects for children 5 to 18 years old.
Rocio Sofia continues to expand her artistic proficiency, which includes graphic design, fabric painting block printing, mosaic art, embroidery, flower making, paper crafts, jewelry design, and painting.
